Lake Barkley is the westernmost project in a series of dams along the Cumberland River and its tributaries. The lake covers 57,900 acres at summer pool, elevation 359 mean sea level, and is surrounded by 1,004 miles of shoreline, much of it in the Land Between the Lakes National Recreation Area. Connects to Kentucky Lake on the Tennessee River via canal.
While not considered a deep-water lake, Lake Barkley does maintain a commercial and secondary navigation buoy system to aid in the safety of commercial and recreation boating.
With a 57,920-acre lake, Barkley is a year-round boating paradise. The marina is one-half mile from the lodge and offers 112 covered slips, 60 open slips, and a launching ramp. Rental fishing boats, pontoon boats, and ski boats are available. Open year-round. http://parks.ky.gov/resortparks/lb/index.htm
