The Stillwater River, lakes, woods and wetlands serve as focal points of this 1,900-acre MetroPark. They provide the setting for fishing, birdwatching and picnicking. Discover the beauty of woodlands, meadows and three waterfalls. Enjoy scenic hiking, recreation and bridle trails. Englewood MetroPark also offers fossil collecting, canoeing and kayaking. Each season highlights different wonders of nature including spring wildflowers blanketing the forest floor, plants and trees dressed in full foliage in summer, the warm colors of fall leaves and frozen waterfalls in winter.
Pumpkin Ash Swamp Forest: Tucked away in Englewood MetroPark is a unique woodland area, a remnant swamp forest. Visitors can follow a boardwalk into this wet area that supports an unusual population of trees including black ash, swamp white oak and pumpkin ash. This wet woods has been dedicated as a State Natural Landmark in recognition of the occurrence of pumpkin ash, a tree rarely found in Ohio.
Martindale Falls: From the trail entrance on Patty's Road, the falls is less than a mile walk north on mostly level terrain through scenic woods.
Patty Falls & Old National Road: Named after the Patty family who settled nearby over 150 years ago, Patty Falls provides an easily reached scenic spot. From the falls, a short hike down the hill leads to a bridge over which Old National Road passed. Note the limestone blocks and oak planks used in construction.
