Location & description:

Located near Wilmington in Clinton county, Cowen Lake offers a beautiful setting ideal for families. The 700 acre lake is surrounded by wooded areas rich in wild flowers, numerous species of songbirds and other various wildlife.

Cottages:

• 27 family housekeeping cottages
• Each cottage is heated and air-conditioned, two private bedrooms, rollaway beds, bath with shower
• Furnished living area, complete kitchen, dining area and screened porch
• Linens, towels, cooking and eating utensils are provided
• Two premium cottages have gas fireplaces and wooden decks with gas cooking grills

Camping:

• The campground has 254 campsites
• 237 campsites have electricity suitable for tents or trailers
• 17 sites are non-electric
• 4 sites are wheelchair accessible
• Campground is equipped with a showerhouse, flush toilets, laundry facilities, dump station, camper's beach and a boat launch ramp.
• A commissary is equipped with snacks and camping items
• Pet camping is offered on designated sites

Boating:

• Boats with a 10 horsepower limit are permitted on Cowan Lake
• The South Shore Marina concession offers boat, canoe, motor rental, fishing and picnic supplies
• Launch ramps, fuel and dock rentals are also available
• Sailing is very popular on the lake.

Fishing & hunting:

• Hunting permitted in designated areas
• Fish species include catfish, bluegill, largemouth bass, muskie and crappie
• Valid Ohio fishing and/or hunting license is required

Swimming:

• Public beach located on south lake shore
• Bath house and showers
• Concession stand
• Campers beach

Picnic areas:

• Picnic areas available with tables and grills
• A shelter and dance pavillion are available through reservations

Trails:

• More than 4 miles of hiking trails
• A self-guided trail provides a boardwalk view of an American Lotus (water lily) colony

Winter meeting room

• Camp commissary building can be rented during the off season
• Features wood-burning fireplace, restrooms and scenic view of the lake
