Location & description:

Madison Lake is small and peaceful area lying within the vast Darby Plains of Ohio.

Boating:

  • Ideal for sailboats, row boats and canoes
  • Launch ramp provided
  • Electric motors only are permitted on the lake

Fishing & hunting:

  • Fish species include bass, bluegill, crappie, channel catfish and bullhead
  • North end of the lake is a designated hunting area for migratory game birds only
  • Valid Ohio fishing and/or hunting license required

Picnic areas:

  • Picnic areas with shelterhouses available
  • Tables, grills, playground and latrines provided
  • Shelterhouses are available on a first-come, first-served basis

Trails:

  • 1/2-mile hiking trail through woodlands and along the lakeshore

Swimming:

  • 300-foot sand beach
  • Changing booths and latrines provided

Area attractions:

  • Deer Creek State Park
  • Big Darby Wildlife Area
  • Bigelow Cemetery and Smith Cemetery state nature preserves
