C. J. Brown Reservoir: Walleye fishing has been good. Most are in deep water over the humps. Try jigging with a nightcrawler or large minnow. For crappies, look for the deep holes and fish with jigs tipped with minnows. The best action has been at depths of 16-20 feet. Catfish have been hitting nightcrawlers, chicken liver and cut bait behind the campground off of the sandy/gravel bottom. Bluegills are taking waxworms around the boat ramp.

Paint Creek Lake: Boaters should beware of low water (5 1/2 feet below summer pool). The ramp near U.S. 50 is the only place to put in and the "hazard zone" is particularly hazardous. Crappie fishing has been excellent, although most are small. Use minnows or jigs and fish at depths of 2-6 feet. Good saugeye fishing has been reported from the beach to the island and off of the campground flats. One of the best methods has been slow trolling (with a trolling motor) with a leadhead and chartreuse twister. For bass, fish around rocks, working crankbaits and jigs at depths of 3-6 feet. Catfish have been taking cut shad in shallow water around Plum Run. For white bass, look for jumps and toss in a Roostertail or shiny Mepps.

Extras

Rocky Fork Lake: Saugeye fishing has been very good. Anglers are trolling around the island and off of the south beach, using Shad-Raps and Hot-N-Tots. Plenty of bluegills are being caught in the coves, around docks and weed beds. Bass fishing remains good by working crankbaits around points at depths of 4-6 feet. Crappies are still deep, probably 10-12 feet.

Lake Loramie: Crappies have been biting around shaded brushpiles. Fish the top half of six feet of water with minnows or jigs. For bluegills, use waxworms and tiny twisters around docks and walls. Saugeyes are being caught in the east end of the lake on Road Runners and Rat-L-Traps over the trenches. Bass fishing has been good around wood.

Grand Lake St. Marys:

The best bet for crappie fishing is still to flip jigs and minnows under docks and docked pontoons. Also try fishing the brushpiles with minnows and jigs. For bluegills, fish around docks with waxworms. Bass fishing has been steady. Find some wood and work crankbaits or jigs. Catfish have been taking nightcrawlers and cut bait all over the lake.

Caesar Creek Lake: Saugeyes continue to hit minnows jigged over the flats and around Hazard Point. Also try trolling a small crankbait or weight-forward spinner tipped with a nightcrawler. Muskies have been hitting bucktail spinners, jerk baits and large crankbaits in shallow water, especially early and late. Large crappies are being caught around structure in deep water. Smaller crappies have been caught on minnows at depths of 3-6 feet around brush. For bluegills, use waxworms and fish around the stickups in the coves.

Indian Lake: Crappie fishing has been very good around Moundwood. Anglers are using minnows and jigs and fishing off the bank around brush and wood. There have also been crappies caught in the Moundwood channel and around lily pads and other structure in the old game reserve. For bluegills, fish around docks and boats. Saugeye fishing has been slow.

Cowan Lake: The best crappie fishing has been over the drop-offs in front of South Shore Marina, mostly on minnows. A few bass are being caught on plastics fished around stumps and laydowns along the north shore. Catfish have been hitting chicken liver, cut bait and chubs in the campground cove. Muskies have been active in shallow water. Try tossing a large bucktail spinner or jerk bait.

Lake Erie:The best yellow perch fishing has been around the northern cans (A, B, and C) of the Camp Perry range, north of the Toledo water intake, at the Toledo Harbor Light, near the turnaround buoy of the Toledo shipping channel, off Gull Island Shoal, Kelleys Island shoal, north of the Marblehead lighthouse, north of Cedar Point, off of the condos east of Vermilion and off of the Lorain lighthouse.

Walleye fishing has been good from North Bass Island and Niagara Reef to "F" can on the Canadian border and on Lucy's Point of Middle Bass Island.

Smallmouth bass fishing has been good near Ruggles Reef in the Huron area.
