Miami coach Warren Mandrell announced the signings, which bring the RedHawks recruiting class to 11.
Gibson is a middle-distance specialist who placed fifth in the state in the 800-meter run at the 2007 state meet in a personal-best time of 1 minute, 54.46 seconds.
"Gibson really improved from his junior to his senior season, and he gives us good depth in the long sprints," Mandrell said. "He's also a great student who has been an outstanding performer in the classroom."
Also signing were sprinter Dan Hull of Warren JFK, long jumper Josh Rees of Marysville and pole vaulter Matt Rudin of Middleburg Heights Midpark.
Davis is named assistant swimming, diving coach
Former Centerville coach Mark Davis has been named an assistant coach for Miami University's women's swimming and diving team, head coach Dave Jennings announced Friday.
Davis, who served as the Elks head coach since 1996, also coached the WTRC Sharks Club team.
Davis guided Centerville to 12 conference and sectional titles. He led the girls team to a state championship in 2004, as well as two district and five district runner-up titles.
"We are fortunate to welcome one of the most respected club coaches in the Midwest to our program," Jennings said. "Mark has sent a number of swimmers to Miami, and they have all had great character and strong swimming fundamentals. ... He knows how to elevate athletes to the national and international level."
