Miami men's hoops second choice in MAC East

CLEVELAND—Miami University's men's basketball team was picked to finish second in the Mid-American Conference East Division on Thursday in a poll of the league's coaches and the MAC News Media Association at the conference's annual media day.
The RedHawks received 146 points and nine first-place votes, trailing Kent State (147) by just one point in the voting. Ohio was picked to finish third, followed by Akron, Buffalo and Bowling Green.

Western Michigan was the top pick in the West Division, followed by Toledo, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Northern Illinois and Ball State.
Miami, which advanced to the NCAA Tournament last season, opens the 2007-08 season Nov. 13 at home against Xavier.
