Miami hockey gains more respect in the polls
Second-ranked RedHawks close the gap on No. 1 North Dakota

OXFORD — In addition to picking up a couple of wins against Ohio State, the Miami University hockey team also gained some ground in the United States College Hockey Online Top 25 poll.
The RedHawks (4-0) retained their No. 2 ranking following a pair of weekend 5-1 victories against the Buckeyes, but MU added a few first-place votes and closed the gap on No. 1 North Dakota (2-0-1).

Miami had three first-place votes last week and trailed the Fighting Sioux by 84 points.
In the latest voting, which was released Monday, the RedHawks have seven first-place votes, and they have closed to within 41 points.
Michigan (3-1), Colorado College (2-0 and Boston College (1-1-2) round out the top five.
The margin is even closer in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll, where Miami trails North Dakota by just 17 points. The Fighting Sioux received 24 first-place votes to the RedHawks' nine.
Miami returns to action this weekend with a home series against the University of Nebraska-Omaha. Friday's game at Steve Cady Arena will begin at 7:35 p.m., while Saturday's contest is slated for a 7:05 p.m. start.
The RedHawks' next action against a ranked foe will be a home series Nov. 9-10 against No. 12 Notre Dame.
