Saturday, October 27, 2007

Who: Miami RedHawks (4-4, 2-1 MAC East) at Vanderbilt Commodores (4-3, 2-3 SEC)

When: 2 p.m.

Extras

Where: Vanderbilt Stadium, Nashville, Tenn.

Radio: WMOH-AM (1450), WFTK-FM (96.5), WONE-AM (980) | TV: None

Series: Tied 1-1 (Miami won last meeting 33-30 in Nashville, Sept. 2, 2000)

Key players: Miami — Junior QB Daniel Raudabaugh will make his third consecutive start in place of senior Mike Kokal, who is out with a knee injury. ... Junior LB Clayton Mullins has been a steady force on Miami's defense, ranking first on the team and fifth in the MAC with 9.9 tackles per game.

Vanderbilt: Junior WR Earl Bennett is two receptions away from breaking the SEC career record for catches, and this year his 46 receptions and 554 yards rank first in the SEC. Sophomore CB D.J. Moore was named National Defensive Player of the Week by the Walter Camp Football Foundation after his two interceptions and eight tackles last week.

Scouting report: For the third time in the past five weeks, the RedHawks will face a team that has momentum. First it was Syracuse, coming off its upset over Louisville. Last week it was Temple, coming off two straight victories. Now the RedHawks must face a Vanderbilt team coming off a 17-6 upset of sixth-ranked South Carolina. Coach Shane Montgomery said there is no chance the Commodores will overlook his team. "They haven't been to a bowl game since 1988 and they realize that with two more wins, that goal will be met," he said. Vanderbilt has played in only three bowls, the last a loss to Air Force in the 1982 Hall of Fame Bowl.
