Miami women's soccer falls in MAC tournament

Miami University's women's soccer team was defeated by Ball State University in the Mid-American Conference Tournament quarterfinals on Sunday afternoon, 1-0.

The No. 8 seed RedHawks battled the top-seeded Cardinals through a scoreless first half. Just past 10 minutes into the second half, Ball State struck as Lindsay Martin scored her first goal of the season off a Katelyn Alexander assist at 56:33.

Miami was unable to answer the goal and Ball State went on to win the game.

Freshman Rachelle Boff played all 90 minutes in goal for the RedHawks, recording five saves. Ball State recorded 16 shots to Miami's seven on the game.

The RedHawks finished the season with a 6-10-3 overall record and were 4-6-1 in MAC play. The Cardinals won the MAC regular-season title with a 9-1-1 league record and improve to 13-5-1 on the season.
