Bramos, Pollitz lead Miami past S. Alabama

ANAHEIM, Calif. — Miami University's men's basketball team won its second straight game to start the season Thursday night.
Junior swingman Michael Bramos poured in a game-high 28 points as Miami held off South Alabama 64-59 in the first round of the eight-team Anaheim Classic at the Anaheim Convention Center.

Senior forward Tim Pollitz added 15 points and grabbed 16 rebounds for the RedHawks, who advance to today's semifinals at 12:30 a.m. to face the winner of Thursday's final first-round game between Southern California and San Diego.
Bramos and Pollitz combined to make 5-of-6 free throws in the final 26 seconds.
Miami led 30-24 at halftime, and built its lead to as many as 15 (57-42) when Kenny Hayes made up a layup with
5:40 to play.
But the Jaguars (2-2) rallied late, trimming the RedHawks lead to 61-58 with 16.8 seconds left on B.J. Ford's 3-pointer. Pollitz hit 3-of-4 from the line the rest of the way to ice the win.
Kenny Hayes added 11 points, and Bramos grabbed eight rebounds.
Brandon Davis had 13 points to lead South Alabama, which made just 8-of-21 attempts from the free-throw line.
