Miami icers rally to beat UNO

OMAHA, Neb. — Miami scored three goals in the third period to defeat Nebraska-Omaha Friday night at the Qwest Center.
Ryan Jones, Brian Kaufman and Carter Camper each had a goal and an assist and Jarod Palmer added two helpers for the second-ranked RedHawks, who improved to 20-3-0 overall and 12-3-0 in Central College Hockey Association play. UNO slipped to 9-11-3, 6-8-3.

Knotted at 3, Miami got the eventual game-winning goal from Justin Mercier with 5 minutes, 16 seconds left in the game. Mercier's goal, his fourth game-winner of the season, was assisted by Kevin Roeder. Kaufman followed with a goal from Camper and Palmer just 1:08 later, and Camper added an empty-net goal with 48 ticks left.
Miami goaltender Jeff Zatkoff stopped 33 shots.
Gary Steffes and Charley Fetzer had goals and Michael Findorff added an assist for Miami, which wraps up the two-game series tonight against the Mustangs.
