RedHawks blank Nanooks
Win propels Miami into sole possession of first place in CCHA.

FAIRBANKS, Alaska — Justin Mercier and Nino Musitelli scored goals and goaltender Jeff Zatkoff recorded his second straight shutout to lead Miami University's hockey team to a 2-0 win over host Alaska.
Zatkoff stopped all 24 shots he face as the second-ranked RedHawks improved to 24-3-0 overall and 16-3-0 in the Central College Hockey Association. Zatkoff blanked Lake Superior 5-0 last Saturday.

Mercier's goal — his 19th of the season — came 1:29 into in the second period. Musitelli added his seventh at the 8:08 mark of the third.
The win, coupled with Michigan's loss to Michigan State, moved Miami into sole possession of first place in the CCHA with 32 points. The RedHawks and Wolverines meet Feb. 8-9 in Oxford.
Wylie Rogers had 20 saves for the Nanooks, who fell to 5-14-4, 5-11-3.
Alec Martinez added an assist for Miami, which wraps up its series with Alaska at 11:05 p.m. today.
