The RedHawks received all 34 first-place votes in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll and 49 of 50 in the USCHO.com/CSTV poll. The RedHawks swept Alaska (2-0, 7-2) last weekend while the Wolverines lost (1-0) and tied (2-2) games against Michigan State.
"We're appreciative of the fact that we're ranked No. 1," Miami coach Enrico Blasi said. "At this point in the year, it means a little bit more with so many games under your belt. At the same time, it's not something we're really focused on. We're focused on winning a regular-season championship."
Miami (25-3-0 overall, 17-3-0 CCHA) leads Michigan (22-3-1,
15-2-1) by three points in the CCHA standings. The teams meet Feb. 8-9 at Steve Cady Arena in Oxford. Miami is idle this weekend, while Michigan hosts Northern Michigan.
