MIAMI
RedHawks ready for rough stretch
Tuesday, February 19, 2008
OXFORD — Coach Charlie Coles won't have to circle his Miami RedHawks' last four Mid-American Conference games in red ink.
He won't have to remind his team that these final four East Division teams, starting with their foe today, Feb. 19, the Akron Zips, are the first four teams to send the RedHawks into a conference nosedive in January.

Because, Coles said, the RedHawks have come of age. He no longer needs to motivate his players.
"It takes 'em a while," Coles said, "but once they get going ... They're kinda on their own now. I'll leave that to them, getting ready for Akron.
"These particular guys, they're best when they motivate themselves. They know we've got Akron, Kent (State), Ohio and Bowling Green, all four teams that have beaten us. They know that."
Their next four MAC foes have combined records of 31-17 in the MAC, 66-34 overall.
