If Miami beats OSU, regular season will be one of most successful in school history.

OXFORD — Miami University's hockey team has a chance this week to complete one of the most successful regular seasons in school history.
Odds are against the RedHawks finishing the week with a Central College Hockey Association title — they trail first-place Michigan by three points with just two games to play. But second-place Miami has a good chance to wrap up the regular season with the most wins in school history.
Extras
The
RedHawks already have equaled the 1992-93 and
1996-97 squads with 27 wins. They can establish a new mark with a victory tonight, Tuesday, Feb. 26, or Friday, Feb. 29, in a home-and-home series against Ohio State.
Miami (27-6-1, 19-6-1 CCHA) is ranked fifth nationally in the United States College Hockey Online.com and USA Today/USA Hockey rankings. Michigan is No. 1, followed by North Dakota, New Hampshire and Colorado College.
The RedHawks are 3-0 against the Buckeyes (11-21-4, 7-16-3) this season. But that success doesn't mean much when the two rivals hit the ice, Miami junior Brian Kaufman said.
"Every time we play them, it's
a big game," said Kaufman, who had two goals and an assist in Miami's
8-1 win Saturday, Feb. 23, over Western Michigan. "It doesn't matter if someone's first and last in the league, or we're in first and second. ... They come ready to play, and we'll be ready to play."
The RedHawks have clinched a first-round bye for the CCHA Tournament and will host a best-of-three, second-round series March 14, 15 and 16 (if necessary) at Steve Cady Arena. The tourney semis and finals are March 21-22 at Detroit's Joe Louis Arena in Detroit.
