Miami edges WMU on diamond 5-4

OXFORD — Tommy Nurre drew a bases-loaded, two-out walk in the bottom of the ninth inning Saturday, April 5, as the Miami University baseball team edged Western Michigan 5-4.

Nurre had two hits, and Evan Armitage, who scored the winning run, marked two RBIs for the RedHawks, who are 7-19 and 2-6 in the Mid-American Conference. The Broncos are 14-8-1, 1-4

The teams will play again at 1 p.m. today at McKie Field.

RedHawks defeat UT in softball 7-4

OXFORD — Alicia Hogl was 2-for-3 with a home run and three RBIs Saturday as the host Miami University softball team beat Toledo

7-4.

Sarah Billstrom collected three hits and two RBIs for the RedHawks, who are 15-16, 6-1 in the Mid-American Conference. UT is 6-14, 0-5.

The teams will meet again today in Oxford at 1 p.m.

Miami tennis stays unbeaten in MAC

TOLEDO — With a 6-1 win against Toledo on Friday, the Miami University women's tennis team remained undefeated in Mid-American Conference play.

The RedHawks (10-5, 4-0 MAC) got singles victories from Brintney Larson, Leda Pesatova, Megan Martzolf, Kelly Douple and Sydnee Bridger.

And the doubles teams of Anastasia Dracheva-Larson and Bridger-Pesatova were also victorious.

RedHawk golfers tie for ninth at Marshall

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. —Miami University's men's golf squad tied for ninth among 17 teams at the Marshall Invitational on Saturday.

Junior Ben Wood fired rounds of 72 and 71 to finish in a tie for 16th place at 1-over-par 143 to pace the RedHawks. Freshman Michael Drobnick shot a 70 in the first round and followed that with a 77 in the second round to tie for 38th place at 5-over-par 147.

Bayliss hurls MUH to 11-0 ORCC victory

HAMILTON — Zane Bayliss struck out 10 in earning the mound win Saturday, as the Miami University Hamilton baseball team blanked visiting Ohio-Chillicothe 11-0.

Matt Mays was 3-for-4 with a double and two runs for the Harriers, who are 14-9 and 1-0 in the Ohio Regional Campus Conference.

Offensive standouts included Damien Hannah (two hits, RBI), Ansen Hall (two runs), Steve Adams (two RBIs), Bryan Fusco (double, three RBIs) and Willy Grant (two runs).
