MU hockey lands NAHL top prosect

Miami University's hockey team signed goaltender Cody Reichard to a letter of intent Wednesday, April 9.

Reichard, a native of Celina, went 33-15-2 with a 2.05 goals-against average and .935 save percentage with the Fairbanks Ice Dogs of the North American Hockey League. He was named to the NAHL's South Division Top Prospects Team.

Reichard is the sixth player to sign with the RedHawks for the 2008-09 season, joining forwards Trent Vogelhuber and Alden Hirschfeld, defensemen Will Weber and Matt Tomassoni and goaltender Connor Knapp.

Goaltender reaches deal with Kings

LOS ANGELES — The Los Angeles Kings have agreed to terms on a three-year entry-level contract with Miami University junior goaltender Jeff Zatkoff, Kings President and General Manager Dean Lombardi announced Thursday, April 11.

Zatkoff, a 6-foot-1, 180-pound native of Chesterfield, Mich., was the club's third-round selection (74th overall) in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. Per club policy, terms of the agreement were not announced.

Zatkoff, 20, was 27-8-1 in 2007-08 with a 1.72 goals-against average, a .933 save percentage and three shutouts. His goals-against average and save percentage ranked first in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association and second nationally. His 27 wins were second in the CCHA and tied for second in the nation. Zatkoff also was named to the CCHA all-tournament team.
