Miami baseball prevails after delay
MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. — After a one hour and forty-three minute rain delay, Miami University's baseball team used stellar pitching efforts from senior Matt Erwood and freshman Samuel Dawes to earn a 3-2 win Friday over Central Michigan in Mid-American Conference play.
Dawes retired all eight batters he faced, including striking out two batters in the ninth inning, to earn his first save of the season, while Erwood earned his third win after going 6 1/3 innings and striking out five.
Because of the weather forecast, Miami (9-21, 3-7 MAC) will now play a doubleheader with the Chippewas beginning at noon today instead of single games today and Sunday.
