Camp report: Richardson glad to be back at practice

OXFORD — It felt good to get back to practice. My foot injury kept me out for a lot of winter conditioning and all of spring ball. I had some trouble with my foot early in the summer, and I just started punting again about three or four weeks ago. It feels pretty good, but I'm not on a full-go sprint just yet.
Now that I'm a senior, you just wonder 'Where did the time fly?.' Who knows, this just might be my last fall of football, because the NFL isn't a guarantee. Certainly I'd love to play pro ball, but now I just am concentrating on having a memorable senior year.
My individual objectives this year are to put our team in a good situation every time I punt the ball. I'd like to increase my average, but my main goal is to pin our opponents inside their 20 as often as possible. I want to get that number up as high as I can, because that's huge.
The team is definitely excited. We have a ton of seniors coming back, a lot of starters. Our whole defense is back and they're really tough. Our offense is still young, but there's still lots of experience in the lineup. We are focusing everything on our opener against Vanderbilt (Aug. 28).
Editor's note: This is the first of a series of diaries from Miami players during preseason camp.
