Princeton standout commits to RedHawks

One of the top basketball players in the Greater Miami Conference is headed to Miami University.
Princeton High School senior-to-be Orlando Williams gave a verbal commitment on Tuesday, Aug. 5, to continue his hoops career at Miami.
Williams, a 6-foot-4 combo guard, averaged 12.6 points per game as a junior.
Princeton coach Josh Andrews said the RedHawks are getting the "full package" in Williams, who plays both guard spots and also the wing for the Vikings.
"He's a kid that gives great effort and is very versatile," said Andrews, a Hamilton High graduate. "He's a multi-dimensional player. He can score in bunches. He really plays the one through three spots for us. He led us in scoring and often times he guards the other team's best player. That tells you about his competitiveness."
Williams said his strengths are getting to the basket and playing defense.
"I like to lock people up," he said.
Williams said he chose Miami over Tulane, James Madison, Kent State and Ohio, among others.
"It was the best fit for me school wise and basketball wise," he said. "They have six seniors graduating (in 2009) and four of them are guards so I have a chance to play right away."
Williams, a first-team, all-conference selection, led Princeton to an 18-6 overall record and a share of the GMC title last season. His teammate at Princeton, Marquis Horne, a forward, also is high on the RedHawks' wish list, according to several recruiting Web sites.
