RedHawks third in CCHA preseason coaches poll

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Miami University hockey team was picked to finish third and fourth, respectively, in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association media and coaches' polls released Tuesday, Sept. 30, at the conference's annual media day.
The RedHawks, who return 15 letterwinners, including two of their top three point scorers, from a team that finished 33-8-1, were tapped to finish third behind Notre Dame and Michigan in the coaches poll. In the media poll, Miami was picked to finish behind Michigan, Notre Dame and Michigan State.
Miami forwards Justin Mercier (first team) and Carter Camper (second team) were named to the All-CCHA preseason teams. Mercier scored 25 goals and totaled 40 points last season, while Camper tallied 41 points.
The RedHawks host Ryerson at 7:05 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, in exhibition play before opening up the regular season Oct. 11 at Ohio State. Miami's home opener is Oct. 12 against the Buckeyes.
