OXFORD — The Miami University women's basketball team used a 10-1 run late in the game to stun Bowling Green 45-40 Wednesday, March 4 at Millett Hall.

Bowling Green (25-3 overall, 14-1 in the Mid-American Conference) saw its 25-game winning streak snapped and Miami (14-14, 6-9 MAC) broke a five-game losing streak.

Freshman forward Rachael Hencke led the RedHawks with 13 points, seven rebounds and three blocked shots, and senior guard Jenna Schone added 12 points and six assists.

The Falcons, ranked No. 25 in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches poll, led 34-32 with 3:54 remaining. Miami dominated the rest of the way, sealing the win when Ashley Hawkins sank two free throws with 7 seconds left.

Bowling Green's winning streak was one short of the MAC record of 26 set by Central Michigan during the 1983-84 season.

Tracy Pontius led the Falcons with 11 points, but hit just 3-of-18 field goal attempts, including 1-of-13 from the 3-point arc.

Miami, the defending MAC Tournament champion, will conclude its regular season at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 7 at home against Buffalo and will open MAC tourney play Wednesday, March 11 in the first round in Cleveland.
