Ohio State QB Kern put up some hall-of-fame numbers
Thursday, May 10, 2007
Rex Kern had a 27-2 record as Ohio State's starting quarterback from 1968-70, numbers that to many place him atop the list of Buckeyes QBs. On Wednesday, Kern was elected along with 11 other players — including Doug Flutie, Ahmad Rashad, and former Bengals Reggie Williams and Wilson Whitley — to the College Football Hall of Fame.
Kern led the Buckeyes to the 1968 national title as a sophomore, but losses to Michigan in 1969 and Stanford in the 1971 Rose Bowl kept those three OSU teams — considered some of the greatest in the school's history — from dynasty status.
