Just a few minutes after Appalachian State completed one of the biggest upsets in college football history, Icbuckeye94 logged onto Bucknuts.com and posted a message on the site's premium forum under the heading, "Michigan Loses!!! Great Day!!!"

By Sunday afternoon, 1,295 people had looked at the thread, and 88 had added their thoughts. One early responder arrived with this observation: "What city/state is App State in? Seriously, I have no idea."

Two things were clear a day after Appalachian State topped No. 5 Michigan at Michigan Stadium, aka The Big House.

One, OSU fans now have a second favorite team. And two, those same Buckeyes fans were sticking it to the Wolverines in the most immediate and accessible way possible — through the Internet.

Ohio State fan message boards lit up following the game with thoughts ranging from celebration about Michigan's demise to anxiety about what the result could mean for the nation's perception of the Big Ten Conference.

There wasn't much sympathy on the message boards, online communities where fans gather to share thoughts and information.

When medinabuckeye1 ventured to the Scout.com Buckeyes message board and tried to show compassion by writing, "We really don't need to rub this in. I mean, they lost to a 1aa team. I'm pretty sure they know the situation," the response came quickly from CaptainBuckeye5150: "OOOOOOOOOOOOOH yes we do."

Some even chose to look to the future. Under the heading "So When Will Michigan Win a Game," AussieBuck told fans on Scout.com that Michigan has "lost three in a row now and the way they looked today I could see them losing the next three as well."

Game analysis aside, many fans took their swipes at the rivals up north. User shaunsimpson came to the Bucknuts site and, with a picture of a Wolverines quarterback being hit by a Buckeyes defender, started a thread titled, "Did Michigan cover?"
