There are times when Dayton resident Denny Singleton is mistaken for one of the most popular people in the state.

"I've been asked for my autograph," said Singleton, 59. "Or it's, 'Hi, Jim.' "

But there seems to be one major difference between Singleton and Ohio State football coach Jim Tressel.

"People say the only thing is he has a little more gray hair," Singleton said.

For Singleton and other area Ohio State fans, more gray hair could be coming. Three weeks after the Big Ten Conference launched its own network, Time Warner Cable customers — along with a majority of cable subscribers in the eight Big Ten states — still don't have the Big Ten Network in their homes.

The Buckeyes' games against Youngstown State and Akron were broadcast solely on the network, which meant area fans had to find friends with DirecTV or Dish Network or seats at a local bar or restaurant showing the games. It hasn't yet been announced what future OSU games will be on the network, but there could be up to three more on the BTN.

Saturday's road game against Washington will be on ESPN, but local fans could miss more games in their homes. And they're not happy.

"I think people have been patient," Singleton said. "It isn't like we've got a birthright to watch a football game, but at the same time you think, 'How can it have come down to this? How can they be making money if we're not able to watch their games?' "

The best games?

The Big Ten Network will broadcast four games Saturday:

Noon — Citadel at Wisconsin; Buffalo at Penn State; Akron at Indiana

8 p.m. — Duke at Northwestern
