Buckeyes take Big Ten break
Saturday, October 13, 2007
Three things you should know as No. 3 Ohio State (6-0) plays host to Mid-American Conference opponent Kent State (3-3):
1. Don't overlook the little guy. Kent State's Eugene Jarvis is listed at 5-foot-5 and 170 pounds, but the sophomore from Pittsburgh Central Catholic High School is fifth in the nation in rushing at 141.8 yards per game. He started last season as a freshman and gained 883 yards. This year, he has rushed for 113, 131, 136, 159, 230 and 82 yards.
Extras
2. Don't take a break. Ohio State has climbed to the country's No. 3 ranking by avoiding upsets, but the Buckeyes weren't totally dominant in wins against Youngstown State and Akron. With a break in the Big Ten schedule, OSU must stay focused.
3. The BTN is back. Today's noon game will be broadcast on the Big Ten Network with play-by-play from Mark Neely and analysis by former Minnesota coach Glen Mason. Time Warner Cable doesn't carry the BTN, so it would be best today to find a friend with DirecTV or Dish Network, find a favorite watering hole with plenty of TVs, or listen on radio (WING-AM, 1410).
