Buckeyes' run defense will face stern test

OSU will have hands full with Illinois running game that is sixth in the nation with 261.3 yards per game.

Three things to watch when Ohio State hosts Illinois today at Ohio Stadium:

1. The Illini running the ball. Quarterback Juice Williams isn't known for his passing — in fact, many think he's not even Big Ten-worthy throwing the ball. But he leads an offense that is sixth nationally in rushing and gains 261.3 yards per game on the ground. The Illini are last in the Big Ten in passing, at 152.6 yards per game.

Extras

Ohio State, meanwhile, is the nation's third-best rushing defense, allowing just 65 yards per game.

2. Will Buckeyes need to respond, again? Last week, OSU fell behind Wisconsin 17-10 before scoring four straight touchdowns. Last year in Champaign, Ill., the Buckeyes never fell behind but were challenged in a 17-10 win.

3. Michigan looms. Of course, coaches and players have said all week that their attention has not wavered from Illinois. Coach Jim Tressel diplomatically said he wasn't sure if the team prepares for Michigan all year. But, the Illini (although much worse) caught the Buckeyes sleeping last year.
