QB Henton set to transfer from Ohio State

COLUMBUS — Backup quarterback Antonio Henton, who had few chances to show what he could do on the field and had some missteps off it, is transferring from Ohio State, according to the Columbus Dispatch, citing unnamed sources.
Although an OSU spokesperson would not confirm Henton's transfer, the sophomore-to-be from Fort Valley, Ga., is expected to enroll next week at Georgia Southern, which competes in the Football Championship Subdivision (formerly Division I-AA), allowing him to play without sitting out a year.
His departure leaves the Buckeyes without an experienced backup for senior starter Todd Boeckman. Redshirt freshman Joe Bauserman and true freshman Terrelle Pryor will be the only other QBs on the roster this fall.
Henton played in the first four games of 2007, completing 3-of-6 passes for 57 yards, including a 37-yard touchdown toss, and rushing nine times for 41 yards.
But he was arrested Sept. 24 and charged with solicitation of a female undercover police officer posing as a prostitute. He eventually pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of loitering.
He was suspended until the Michigan game, and he didn't see any action the rest of the season.
Henton, the Georgia high school offensive player of the year in 2005, would be reunited with his high school coach at Georgia Southern. Rance Gillespie, who led Peach County High School to a state title with Henton under center, is the offensive coordinator there.
