Wisconsin can be crazy trip for any freshman

What's brewing today with the Ohio State Buckeyes:

Buckeyes buzz

Everybody's heard how wild Wisconsin's Camp Randall Stadium is. Now imagine dropping a freshman from an opposing team into the middle of that vulgar, loud, raucous mosh-pit of a facility.

That's what the Buckeyes are doing with Terrelle Pryor at quarterback; a true freshman at the most important position on offense, with 80,000 fans screaming and 11 physical defenders gunning for him.

But Ohio State coach Jim Tressel isn't the least bit worried.

"I don't really have any qualms about it," he said, listing two reasons. "One is that he's shown a lot of command and desire to know what he's doing as opposed to being a freshman just going out there and playing. And, two, is that you have that security blanket of Todd Boeckman right there ... available at any moment."

Beanie the campus bigshot

There's no question tailback Chris "Beanie" Wells is a big man on campus at Ohio State. He gets stopped for autographs and advice, pictures and progress reports, all the time.

Here's what a day in his life is like:

"It was funny, because (Monday, Sept. 29) there was a group of kids, like elementary school kids, and they all recognized me. I stopped and I signed autographs," he said. "Then, once the little kids recognized me, then some older kids recognized me and I stopped and signed autographs for like 30 more minutes."

He also said he is frequently asked for autographs by classmates.

"I give it to them. It's an honor and a blessing for me to be in the position I'm in today," he said. "You always have to remember what it's like to be a kid, for one. And just to be thankful to be in the position that you're in. You never want to take it for granted."
