Have you caught National Invitation Tournament fever yet?

"It's a subtle celebration," University of Dayton senior Lisa Monnot said, explaining the general lack of campus fanfare.

Extras

Fans still smarting over the Flyers' exclusion from the more prestigious NCAA men's basketball tournament are advised to get over it.

That's because a win tonight against Ohio State (9, ESPN2) means a berth in the NIT semifinals and a trip to New York to play in Madison Square Garden.

Interest is building. As of Tuesday night, 16,587 seats had been sold in OSU's 19,049-seat Schottenstein Center. Those who ordered tickets online or by phone can pick them up at the Schott's auxiliary gym starting at 7 p.m.

Tickets ($20 for adults, $10 for students) are on sale today at OSU's ticket office in the southeast corner of the arena from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Flyers will play Ohio State for the first time since 1988. They have beaten Cleveland State and Illinois State and are shooting for their first trip to the NIT semifinals since 1968.

Been a Flyer fan all 25 years of my life and a season ticket holder for 7 years, but I’ve never seen UD play anywhere but UD. I’m all for watching a big game on a visiting court surrounded by 20,000 other people. Welcome to March in Ohio.

Oh yeah, I’m excited. While not happy with the NCAA snub, I’m thrilled the season continues. B-Rob, Brian & Dre deserve it and it’s great to see Marcus tear up the court. Even better to see Chris Wright back in action. Go Flyers!
