About Kansas

The Jayhawks shot 50 percent from the field in an 84-74 first-round win over North Dakota State, the 16th time this season they've made at last half of their field goals (UD has done it nine times). They're also first in the Big 12 in field-goal percentage defense at 38.9 percent, slightly better than the Flyers' 39.6 mark. Collins was named first-team All-Big 12, while Aldrich also was a first-team selection and was named the league's co-defensive player of the year. Collins became the first KU player to top 30 points this season by tallying 32 while also handing out eight assists against NDSU. The Jayhawks had a season-low five turnovers in that game.

About Dayton

The Flyers' 27 wins are the second-most in school history. The 1951-52 team went 28-5 and the 1950-51 squad went 27-5. The Flyers are 6-2 against BCS schools over the last three years, winning four times against top-tier Big East teams. The Flyers essentially pared their rotation down to nine players against West Virginia. Wright, a second-team All-Atlantic 10 pick, played 34 minutes, his most in a regulation game this season, and Johnson was on the floor for 36. Huelsman will make his 100th career start (he's started every game while at UD).

FYI

In the only other meeting between UD and Kansas, the Donnie May-led Flyers prevailed, 61-48, on their way to an NIT title in 1968.

Quote, unquote

"Offensively, in the open court, they're as good as anybody in the country, obviously, when Collins has the ball in his hands. But if you just stopped there, you would be doing that team a disservice because they have so many weapons," UD coach Brian Gregory said.
