Keys to a Wright State victory

By Marc Katz

BUFFALO — So can Wright State pull off the upset of No. 3 seed Pittsburgh tonight? It may be unlikely, but here's how it could be done:

Extras

1. Pittsburgh is bigger, so the Wright State Raiders will have to find a way to keep the Panthers off the boards and will have to use their quickness to get more baskets.

2. "Our defensive transition has to be good," WSU coach Brad Brownell said. The Raiders can't afford to allow Pitt extra shots off rebounds and must get down the floor quickly, hopefully leaving Pitt's 7-foot Aaron Gray behind.

3. Wright State wants to pressure the Panthers into having to make more 3-point shots and free throws. Pitt's .666 percentage from the free throw line is not quite WSU's .736.

4. Jordan Pleiman, Drew Burleson and Scottie Wilson must not get into foul trouble, and the game must be close for at least 10 minutes. If the Raiders can hang in that far, anything can happen.
