League schedule points to larger crowds for WSU basketball
Raiders have six Saturday home games, and finish with two league contests at home.

FAIRBORN — Wright State men's basketball coach Brad Brownell ran his finger down his Horizon League schedule for this season and paused five times.
"We've got five Saturday games at home," Brownell said, "and a sixth when you add the (ESPN) Bracket Busters game, which will be played in February."
Saturday games usually mean bigger crowds, and most of them will be played with WSU students on campus, which wasn't the case last season.
Also this year, the Raiders will finish with two league games at home — against Milwaukee on Feb. 26 and Green Bay two days later. Last season, the Raiders finished with two games on the road, losing them both.
Brownell said the rest of the schedule would be released later this summer. It includes home games with Illinois State (the Nov. 15 opener), Miami and Toledo.
Wright State's league schedule begins Dec. 4 in Green Bay, then moves to Milwaukee on Dec. 6. If he could change anything in the schedule, Brownell would move his home game with Cleveland State later in the schedule from Dec. 30, and he would put the two games in Chicago together.
Cleveland State should be a contender this year, as should WSU, and Brownell wants that game to become more of a rivalry game that will gain in importance as the season progresses. As for the games at Illinois-Chicago and Loyola of Chicago, instead of being played two days apart as usual, they are being split to make room for the Bracket Busters game on Feb. 21.
Wright State will play at Loyola on Tuesday, Feb. 10 and at UIC on Wednesday, Feb. 18, requiring two trips to Chicago instead of one.
