About Miami

Coach Charlie Coles loves these area rivalries, which is why he's the only coach who insists on games with Dayton, Xavier and Wright State every season. When a date could not be worked out at WSU two years ago, Coles said he'd play two straight in Fairborn if the Raiders visited him a second straight year in Oxford. Coles doesn't shy away from other tough games, either. The RedHawks have already played at then No. 4 UCLA (a close 64-59 loss) and No. 5 Pitt (not-so-close 82-53 loss). In all, RedHawks will play their first six games on the road.

About Wright State

What appeared to be a good defensive effort was thwarted by a lack off offense by the Raiders, who lost 70-68 in overtime to Central Michigan on Saturday. "We took care of the ball — only 10 turnovers," coach Brad Brownell said. "But we needed somebody to step up and score." Cory Cooperwood did with 16 points, but CMU scored the final 10 points in regulation and held the Raiders to one basket in the final two minutes of overtime.

Outlook

Wright State is still looking to have a good season, but the immediate schedule is daunting. The next three games, and five of the next six, are on the road. Thanksgiving Day afternoon, the Raiders leave for Huntsville, Tex., and Saturday's date at Sam Houston State. Tickets for tonight's game are two for one.

Quote

"It's a good rivalry (with Miami). A lot of fans enjoy this game, and we've been fortunate enough to make two baskets at the end to win in grind-it-out games." — WSU coach Brad Brownell
