Hoop highlights: Dunbar loses to Indy power

Defending Division II state champion Dunbar lost its showdown with powerful Indianapolis North Central High on Saturday night, 70-65, at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indy.
In the final game of the Circle City Classic Challenge of Champions, Dunbar never led and trailed by 17 with about five minutes remaining before making a late run.

North Central's Eric Gordon, who has committed to Indiana University, scored 34 points and sank 22 of 25 free throws.
Dunbar forward Aaron Pogue had 19 points and 15 rebounds. Point guard Norris Cole scored 20 points as the Wolverines lost for the first time after opening the season with two wins.
North Central (4-0) is the No. 1 ranked 4A team in Indiana.
Versailles 65, Covington 45: Covington had been undefeated, but Jeremy Shardo and Jordan Liette each scored 19 points as Versailles (2-1) prevailed. Seth Mohler's 16 points led Covington (3-1).
Bellbrook 57, Xenia 52: Cameron Shank and Justin Hinders each scored 14 points for the winners, trumping a game-high 27 scored by Chris Oakes.
Bethel 62, Xenia Christian 37: Brian Muse led all scorers with 19 points and Tony Phillips added 17 as Bethel romped.
Oakwood 55, Northridge 41: Robby Sherk's 16 points paced Oakwood. Jake Mays had 13.
Twin Valley South 81, Preble Shawnee 37: Steve Summers led a parade of scorers for TV South with 19 points and Weston Bassler contributed 17.
Tecumseh 65, Vandalia Butler 38: Adam Brown led the way with 18 points and Justin Apple chipped in a dozen. Nik Gillum had 12 for Butler.
Troy Christian 63, Bradford 30: Mackenzie Perry poured in 23 points and Aaron Godsey had 16 to lead the rout. Perry added eight steals. Christian Hill topped Bradford with 14 points.
Monroe 55, Miami East 47: Tyler Osterman's 24 points sparked Monroe. Tyler Williams added 16 and Richard Molnar had a dozen rebounds.
Trevor Coomus scored 11 points for Miami East.
Russia 61, Minster 51: Brok Schafer had 13 points and Mitchel Hoying and Andy Zumberger added 10 each as Russia won. Zac Boeke's 16 led Minster.
New Knoxville 69, Anna 44: New Knoxville shot 62 percent from the field and was 7-of-11 from 3-point range in defusing the Rockets. Ross Steinecker had 26 points, eight rebounds and five assists.
