Marion Local tops Versailles in battle of volleyball No. 1s

Marion Local knocked off previously unbeaten Versailles on Thursday night in a battle of state No. 1 girls volleyball teams. The Flyers (No. 1 in Division IV) dispatched Versailles 25-21, 19-25, 25-16, 25-21. Versailles, now 16-1, entered the match as the top-rated team in Division III.
Spearheading the win were Abby Niekamp (10 kills and 4 aces), Megan Barhorst (10 kills), Katie Schulze (18 assists) and Shelby Moeller (18 assists). Local (15-0) defeated Anna, then the No. 1 team in Division III, last week.
