Thursday's area volleyball regional tournament roundup

Tippecanoe remained undefeated in girls high school volleyball Thursday night. The 27-0 Red Devils defeated Cincinnati McNicholas 25-14, 21-25, 21-25, 25-21, 15-10 in the Division II regional semifinals at Wilmington High School.

Cassie Berning led the attack with 18 kills, two blocks and 18 digs; Gina Porto had 11 kills; Hillary Andrews 29 digs and Hallie Donathan 28 assists.

Tipp gets Bellbrook (19-7) in the regional final Saturday at 2 p.m. The Eagles, making their first regional appearance, defeated Chillicothe Unioto, 17-25, 25-22, 25-17, 21-5, 15-13.

Division IV: Lehman Catholic and Jackson Center will meet in the championship game Saturday at Vandalia Butler after wins Thursday night. The teams met in the regular season with Lehman winning in five games.

Jackson Center (24-2) excused Lancaster Fisher Catholic, 25-22, 25-16, 25-14. Alissa Ware had 21 kills and 12 digs. Bethany Hoene added 24 assists.

Lehman (20-) stopped Twin Valley South (24-2) in straight sets, 25-16, 25-20, 25-19. Jessica Slagle had 16 kills and four aces. Marlee Wion had 39 assists. For TV South, Katie McCoy had eight kills, Kaitlyn Ervin 16 digs and Debbie Brubaker 16 assists.

Marion Local (25-1), the No.1 D-IV team in the state, defeated No. 8 Edon (25-1), 25-13, 25-18, 25-8, in the regional semis at Elida.

Abby Niekamp had 20 kills, Shelby Moeller 25 assists and two aces and Jessica Schwieterman 20 digs. The Flyers get Bascom Hopewell-Loudon (23-3) in the final Saturday.
