Kissock scores lone goal in Oakwood win

Kyle Kissock scored the only goal of the match on an assist from Andrew Wade as the Oakwood High School boys soccer team blanked Bellbrook 1-0 Thursday, Sept. 4

The game could have a major impact later in the season on the Southwestern Division standings of the Southwestern Buckeye League. Oakwood is 5-0-1; Bellbrook is 5-2-1.

Springboro 3, Vandalia Butler 0: Matt Curran had a pair of goals for the Panthers (3-2-1).

Brookville 4, Franklin 3: Pat Garrett had the winning goal for the Blue Devils (2-2-1) on an assist from Chris Burkett. Garrett also had an assist, while Burkett had two goals to go with his assist. Tyler Leonard had three goals for Franklin.

Franklin-Monroe 6, Twin Valley South 1: Lane Lucas had two goals and two assists for the Jets (1-2-0).

Bethel 6, Miami East 1: Joe Zimmerman had a goal and two assists, and Joey Brown two goals for the Bees (5-1-0). They are 2-0 in the Cross County Conference.

Centerville 4, Fairborn 0: The win moves the Elks to

6-0-0.

Girls soccer

Yellow Springs 3, Southeastern 1: Ryder Comstock had three goals for Springs (4-1-0), with Katie Nickels providing two assists.

Fenwick 2, Cincinnati Anderson 1: Alexis Heard had the winning goal as Fenwick (4-1-0) knocked off Anderson, one of the top Division I girls team in Cincinnati.

Bellbrook 3, Oakwood 0: Jessie Jarrett had two goals for the 6-1-0 Eagles.

Volleyball

Fairborn d. Wayne 25-16, 16-25, 25-16, 25-22: The 7-1 Skyhawks continue to be one of the surprise teams early in the season. Brenna Smith had 12 kills and 30 digs, Brianna Breeding had eight kills and three aces, and Amanda Lilley had 29 assists.

Marion Local d. St. Henry 25-18, 25-23, 25-20: The defending Division IV state champions moved their record to 7-0, 2-0 in the Midwest Athletic Conference. Alyssa Winner had 12 kills, two blocks and three service aces.
