Trotwood tips Piqua 12-7 for 1st win

Trotwood-Madison won its first game of the season Friday, Sept. 26, with a 12-7 victory at Piqua. The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for the Indians (4-2).

The winning score for the Rams (1-5) came on a 46-yard pass from Marcus Graham to Michael Alex Jordan late in the third quarter. Piqua had the ball on the Trotwood 14-yard line on the final play of game, but Trotwood intercepted a pass to preserve the win.

Antwan Gilbert had 162 yards and a touchdown on 31 carries for the Rams.

Alter 42, Carroll 7: Chris Borland ran for 148 yards and three TDs on eight carries as the Knights (4-2) continued to dominate opponents on the field despite forfeiting two wins last week. The loss leaves Carroll at 3-3 and in danger of not making the D-II playoffs.

Chaminade-Julienne 14, Cin. McNicholas 13 OT: The Eagles (4-2) continue to pull out close wins. This was their third straight victory by a narrow margin. Alex Kauth kicked the winning extra point in OT after quarterback Kurt Hess scored on a 3-yard run.

Greenville 26, Dunbar 20: The Green Wave (5-1) won their fourth straight and handed Dunbar (4-1), the No. 1 team in the DDN Division II ratings, its first loss. Zach Melling scored three TDs, two early in the fourth quarter for a 26-14 lead. Melling had 217 yards rushing.

Steve White had a pair of TD passes for Dunbar, 27 yards to Tyrone Brown and 17 yards to Roger Williams.

West Carrollton 29, Cin. Hughes 12: Loren Snow rushed for 162 yards and two TDs and Tony Wilbur 139 yards and a score as the Pirates (1-5) broke a nine-game losing streak. They had 397 yards rushing and none passing.

Troy 34, Vandalia Butler 21: QB Tyler Wright passed for 204 yards and rushed for 92 as the Trojans (4-2) broke a two-game losing streak.

Xenia 28, Miamisburg 14: Justin Knowles had 186 yards rushing and three touchdowns as the Bucs (2-4) broke a four-game losing streak. Cody Hamblin threw a pair of TD passes for the Burg (2-4).

Sidney 42, Fairborn 14: The Yellow Jackets (3-3) piled up 407 yards rushing. Josh Topp had 116 yards rushing and two scores. Jack Foy ran for 113 yards and returned a punt 94 yards for a score.

Tippecanoe 21, Bellefontaine 14: Jake Budding's 80-yard return of a recovered fumble for a touchdown on the first play of the fourth quarter was the deciding TD for the 6-0 Red Devils. Their other scores came runs of 67 yards from Allen Comer and 22 yards from Cory Johnson.

Northridge 40, Preble Shawnee 22: The Polar Bears intercepted six passes as they broke a two-game losing streak. QB Kyle Lingg threw three touchdowns passes and ran for two more.

Valley View 35, Bellbrook 6: QB Johnny Day was 18 of 29 passing for 298 yards and 4 TDs for the 4-1 Spartans,

Franklin 38, Mid. Madison 14: Defense dominated for the Wildcats (4-2), who won their third straight. Kyle Blackford returned a returned a fumble 56 yards for a TD, Taylor Briggs brought a pass interception back 25 yards for a score and the defense had eight sacks.

St. Marys Memorial 21, Ottawa-Glandorf 20: The Roughriders escaped to move to 6-0. Jake Taylor's 75-yard pass to Aaron Homan late in game proved to be the winning score.
