Eagles volleyball flies to GGCL Grey North Division title

Chaminade-Julienne, the No. 8 Division I girls volleyball team in the state, finished the regular season with a 25-23, 25-15, 25-22 win over Carroll on Tuesday, Oct. 7.
The win gives C-J (18-4) the championship in the Girls Greater Cincinnati League Grey North Division at 8-1. Rachel Bruns had 28 assists for the Eagles. Lisa Treadway had 19 digs, Mallory Hall 13 kills and Mariah Nussbaum seven kills.
Tippecanoe d. Stebbins 25-12, 25-7, 25-11: Halle Donathan had 17 assists as the state's No. 1 Division II team moved to 21-0.
Greater Western Ohio Conference tournament: Centerville will be at Lebanon (18-2) in the GWOC championship game Thursday, Oct. 9. Lebanon, the No. 1 seed, took No. 4 Vandalia Butler 25-17, 25-19, 22-25 and 25-18.
No. 3 seed Centerville got by No. 2 seed Troy, 25-23, 13-25, 27-25, 25-21. Allison Helm had 10 kills and 17 digs for the Elks. Vandalia is at Troy for the third/fourth place match.
Boys soccer
Bellbrook 13, Valley View 0: Matt Bly had four goals and two assists as the Eagles (13-2-1) and Oakwood tied for the Southwestern Division title in the Southwestern Buckeye League, each with 11-1-0 records. This is the 17th straight year Bellbrook has either won or shared the title.
Oakwood 1, Brookville 0: Andrew Wade scored the only goal of the match with 1:30 left in the first half for the 13-1-2 Lumberjacks.
Carroll 5, Cincinnati Moeller 0: The win gives the Patriots (12-1-2) a sweep of all four Greater Catholic League South Division teams — Moeller, Elder, La Salle and St. Xavier. Justin Mitchell led the scoring with two goals.
Springboro 0, Miamisburg 0: The tie gives Springboro (7-4-4) its third straight GWOC South Division title at 2-0-2. Miamisburg needed a win to get the championship. It came in second in the South at 2-1-1.
Wayne 0, Centerville 0: The deadlock means both teams tie for second place in the GWOC Central at 3-1-1.
Yellow Springs 5, Franklin-Monroe 2: Kevin Sykes-Gilbert had four goals for the Bulldogs (9-3-3).
