Alter to make second consecutive appearance at Flyin to the Hoop

Alter boys basketball coach Joe Petrocelli's philosophy has changed regarding the seventh annual Flyin' to the Hoop tournament at Kettering's Trent Arena, Saturday through Monday, Jan. 17-19.
The Knights didn't participate from 2003-07 when the event was held at the Vandalia-Butler Student Activity Center. But they're back for the second straight year since the tournament moved.
Alter faces Martinsburg (W.Va.) at 1:15 p.m. Saturday.
"The honest reason why we'd never gotten into it is because it was out at Vandalia," Petrocelli said.
"It's a beautiful gym and everything, but it's not a place that I wanted to travel to. As soon as they put it at the Trent, we wanted to get in. And I'm pretty sure we're going in next year."
