West Chester's Franklin debuts 'American Fighter'

West Chester's Rich Franklin, a former UFC middleweight champion, will premiere his television pilot "American Fighter" tonight at the Madison Theater in Covington, Ky.
The show, which is currently being shopped to cable TV executives, is hosted by Franklin and spotlights individuals overcoming adversity in their daily lives. Joe Garvey, a 21-year-old Indiana native who was severely injured in an ATV accident, is the subject of the pilot episode.

"Joe's story shows that you can do great things when you're willing to fight and put in some hard work," Franklin says.
Tickets to the event are $25, and proceeds benefit Franklin's "Keep it in the Ring" charity. Festivities
begin at 6 p.m. and will include live music, food, a silent auction, a screening of the pilot, and a meet and greet with Franklin and other UFC fighters. Tickets are available at www.americanfighter.com.
Franklin next enters the octagon Oct. 20 at UFC 77 in Cincinnati. There, he meets current middleweight champ Anderson Silva in the night's main event.
