On Friday, the Palms Northwest Mortuary and Cemetery in Las Vegas overflowed with some of the world's most famous poker professionals. A second room was organized with a big-screen television to view the funeral service for arguably the best poker player who ever lived.
Chip Reese, who became poker royalty once he left Centerville for Las Vegas, died Wednesday at age 56 following complaints of pneumonia symptoms. The service brought together friends from his childhood, his days as a Dartmouth College student and those who simply pushed chips against him.

Last week, they recalled Reese's years in his Centerville neighborhood and his rise to the Poker Hall of Fame while preparing to cram together to celebrate his life and career.
"All to see a guy," said Mike Sexton, a world-renowned poker player and broadcaster, "who probably took money from each of them."
