Nationwide Arena will host UFC 82, the second Ultimate Fighting Championships event in Columbus since the state began regulating mixed martial arts last year, and the venue is on pace for another sellout.

More than 10,000 tickets have been sold for the show, according to the UFC's Media Relations department. The organization expects a sellout before the event's March 1 date.

Extras

Tickets range from $50 to $400.

UFC 82, which features a title fight between UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva and Dan Henderson, will air on pay-per-view. It'll feature a 10 bouts — one more than usual.

Like last year's UFC 68 event, UFC 82 will coincide with the Arnold Sports Festival, a three-day sports and fitness exhibition.

Fans can get a sneak peak of the fighters and snag some autographs at the event's weigh-ins, which take place the Friday before. The weigh-ins will be held at Nationwide Arena and are free and open to the public.

Short-lived record

Last year's soldout UFC 68 event at Nationwide Arena set a UFC attendance record with 19,049 attendees. The venue could break its own record next month at UFC 82.

Regardless, though, the venue won't hold the record for long.

It'll fall in April when Montreal's Bell Centre hosts UFC 83, featuring a title-unification bout between UFC welterweight champion Matt Serra and interim champ (and popular French-Canadian) Georges St. Pierre. Additionally, area fighter and former UFC middleweight champion Rich Franklin fights Travis Lutter at the event.

Last week, nearly 20,000 UFC 83 tickets were sold during a presale for the UFC's $75-a-year fan club. The UFC held back a small allotment for the public on sale four days later, and it took less than a minute for fans to burn through the inventory.

The Bell Centre can accommodate approximately 23,000 spectators.
