Griffey fitting in with White Sox

CHICAGO — They gave him the cold shoulder treatment, ignoring him as he arrived at the dugout, as if to say, "About time."
Ken Griffey Jr. had officially arrived as a member of the Chicago White Sox.
Griffey had 10 hits in his first 44 at-bats for the White Sox. His 11th was a home run, the 609th of his career, tying him with Sammy Sosa for fifth on the all-time list.
After a slight delay, the White Sox mobbed Griffey in the dugout to pay homage to the 38-year-old outfielder who became their teammate when the Cincinnati Reds traded him to Chicago on July 31.
And he is fitting in.
"They get all over everybody here," said Griffey after his team's 15-3 win over Seattle. "Even the coaches are out in the clubhouse giving the players a hard time. My first few days here they were all over me about everything."
Griffey is playing center field, right field and designated hitter for the first-place White Sox. On Wednesday, he was supposed to play right field and bat sixth.
But Jim Thome was scratched before the game and Griffey was moved to designated hitter and clean-up, where he singled and homered to drive in three runs in his first two at-bats.
Griffey said the trade confused his 6-year-old adopted son, Tevyn, who said, "What do you mean we're on a new team? We can't ever go back to Cincinnati?"
