Intimidation Cage Fighting, an up-and-coming Kentucky-based promotion, will make its Cincinnati debut April 11 with a fight card filled with UFC veterans.

"ICF: Breakout" takes place at U.S. Bank Arena and features a main event between UFC notable and "The Ultimate Fighter 4" cast member Shonie Carter (46-18-7) and undefeated Cincinnati fighter Victor O'Donnell (5-0).

In the co-main event, Dale, Ind.'s Dan Christison (13-6), a competitor on "The Ultimate Fighter 2," takes on fellow heavyweight Marcio Cruz (4-2), a jiu-jitsu expert who defeated current UFC interim heavyweight champ Frank Mir in 2006.

Also competing on the card is Cincinnati fighter Luke Zachrich (8-1). Zachrich, who competed on the seventh season of "Ultimate Fighter," takes on fellow middleweight Jonathan Hines (0-0).

Tickets for the ICF event range from $38 to $78. To make a purchase or to check out the full fight card, go to intimidationcagefighting.com.

Franklin has next bout

In his first fight since a split-decision loss to Dan Henderson in January, former UFC middleweight champion and West Chester Twp. fighter Rich Franklin (24-4) will take on MMA legend Wanderlei Silva (32-9-1) at UFC 99.

Although not signed, verbal agreements are in place for the fight, which is likely to be contested at a catch-weight of 195 pounds.

The UFC has not formally announced the fight or the event, but UFC 99 is expected to take place June 13 in Cologne, Germany.

The Franklin vs. Silva fight could serve as a co-main event to a headline bout between UFC lightweight champ B.J. Penn (13-5-1) and Kenny Florian (11-3).

Gurgel eyeing May return

Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker recently mentioned UFC veteran and former Wright State University student Jorge Gurgel (12-5) as a candidate to fight Strikeforce lightweight champ Josh Thomson at the organization's April 11 event. A representative from Gurgel's West Chester Twp.-based training facility, however, said the fighter's recent elbow injury will keep him off the card.

Ed Wilson, co-owner of JG MMA Academy, said Gurgel is currently in Brazil and still rehabbing his elbow.

The 32-year-old fighter could instead make his Strikeforce debut at an event tentatively planned for Seattle in May.

The UFC released Gurgel after a November loss to Aaron Riley – despite Gurgel earning a $60,000 Fight of the Night bonus for the effort.

Strikeforce, a top organization that recently signed a broadcast deal with Showtime, signed Gurgel within 24 hours of his release.
