Kyle Busch is great for NASCAR

By Greg Billing

At the risk of taking a pine cone upside my head from my neighbor, I have to say it:

Kyle Busch is great for NASCAR.

He's brash. He's cocky. He's a great quote. And he wins, which lets him be brash, cocky and deliver great quotes.

I don't root for Busch — I can do without some of his antics — but you have to appreciate his driving ability, his determination to win and perhaps even his desire not to be like every other driver and not walk the noncontroversial sponsorship line.

And during tough times when NASCAR needs fans to pay attention, a little drama and controversy from Busch doesn't hurt.

During the Nationwide Series race on Saturday, March 21, a bad pit stop eliminated his chance to win. After the race, Busch left his car in Turn 3 and let his crew retrieve it.

During the Sprint Cup race on Sunday, Busch called out his crew before the last pit stop: "I told the ladies to man up, get the job done on the last stop, which they did."

OK, so Busch wins a little too often. But when the No. 18 Snickers is out front, it creates the biggest fan club in NASCAR. Just not in Busch's favor.

And that's not a bad thing.

I am a die hard Kyle Busch fan, he is one of the best race car drivers I have ever seen. Since when did NASCAR turn into a sissy game of office politics. After all, these guys are drivers, not puppets. NASCAR has been through this before, i remember when a young driver named gordon had all the fans booing, but now he is one of the most popular. If you wont watch NASCAR when he wins, great! thats alot of racing you will miss. Kyle does it with all of you booing him!

He’s talented in a racecar, but he makes me gag. If he’s ahead, I’ll watch something else, and I immediately change the channel if his face shows up on the screen. As a mother myself, I don’t understand how his mother can be proud of him. If he wins the championship, he’ll be the most UNworthy champion since Busch Brat, Sr.

NA$CAR is like professional wrestling. You have to have a “bad” guy to root against as well as a “good” guy to roof for to draw attention and crowds. Kyle is the bad guy and Jr. is the good guy and a little tension between them (even if it is fake) is what NA$CAR needs and wants to bring in the folks.

NA$CAR is simply professional wrestling on wheels.

I don’t think alot of people realize how good kyle busch is in a race car.The fact that he dominated all the road courses last year and won on so many different courses says his talent is as good as it gets.If he had the good guy please the sponsers type of front of a Mark Martin he would not be as good as he is or nearly as exciting to watch. He gives it everything he’s got on the race course and expects his team to do the same.
