CINCINNATI — Outside linebacker David Pollack went down at 11:34 of the first quarter with a neck injury when his helmet slammed into tailback Reuben Droughns' shoulder pads.

Wide receiver Chad Johnson suffered a bruised right shoulder on his 8-yard touchdown reception at 3:09 of the first quarter, then suffered a concussion with 2:07 left in the game on a hit from Browns safety Brian Russell that sliced open Johnson's chin.

Extras

Rich Braham was carted off the field with a sprained left knee at 13:18 of the second quarter. Then strong safety Dexter Jackson was helped off the field with a severe right ankle sprain at 2:05 of the second. Finally, Tab Perry limped off the field on a sprained right ankle with 0:58 remaining when he got smashed on a kickoff return.

"It's part of football," Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis said. "That's why we have 53 guys. We'll get ready to play and get going."

Chad 'loopy'

Wide receiver coach Hue Jackson led Chad Johnson into the showers and helped him get dressed. One of the team's trainers drove Johnson home.

"I talked to Chad," quarterback Carson Palmer said. "He's a little loopy. He took a shot to the head. He's a little out of it, but he'll come to his senses."

Graham soars

Bengals kicker Shayne Graham became the second most accurate field goal kicker in NFL history Sunday.

To qualify for the top 10 list, kickers need 100 career made field goals. Graham, who entered the game with 99, hit 2-of-3 against the Browns, missing from 44 yards, but nailing a pair of 37-yarders.

Graham has converted 101-of-120 career field goals for 84.2 percent, second only to the Cowboys' Mike Vanderjagt (217-of-248 for 87.5 percent).

"It's cool to have that out of the way," Graham said. "I just look forward to making every attempt I can, and doing well for personal goals and for team goals."

The sledgehammer

Rudi Johnson rushed 26 times for 145 yards (a 5.6 average) and two fourth-quarter touchdowns. He scored on runs of 1 and 9 yards, and got stronger as the game wore on, piling up 73 yards in the fourth quarter.

"You just keep shoveling, keep working and keep wearing 'em down," he said. "When the fourth quarter comes, the defense gets tired and everything opens up."

Quick hitters

• Left tackle Levi Jones (ankle) and wide receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh (heel) were deactivated.

Left guard Eric Steinbach shifted to left tackle and rookie Andrew Whitworth made his first career start at left guard. Eric Ghiaciuc filled in at center when Braham got hurt.

• Middle linebacker Brian Simmons led the defense with six tackles, an interception and forced fumble.

• The Bengals were flagged nine times for 49 yards and Palmer was sacked four times and intercepted twice, pulling his passer rating down to 84.6.
