Cris Collinsworth wasn't about to let Marvin Lewis swing smooth or make solid contact.

As emcee of the celebrity contest at the Marvin Lewis Golf Classic at Shaker Run Golf Club on Sunday, May 18, Collinsworth introduced the Cincinnati Bengals head coach by talking throughout Lewis' setup, backswing and follow-through.

Extras

"When all was bleak," Collinsworth screamed into a microphone to the crowd gathered around the tee of the 125-yard practice hole, "he brought the faith back to the Motherland! The guy who has turned around the Bengals stripes and restored the roar to Cincinnati — Mr. Marvin Lewis!"

Lewis dubbed his tee shot, but otherwise hit a home run for Greater Cincinnati youth.

His golf tournament is a major fundraiser for the Marvin Lewis Community Fund, which benefits seven nonprofit organizations along with other programs.

With a full field of 244 entrants, enough money was raised to fund 13 college scholarships for deserving high school students.

"When you have an opportunity to give back and touch somebody else's life," Lewis said, "that's what it's all about."
